Dear Aircraft Owner,

Thank you for requesting more information about Morton Buildings and our partnership with Moreland Aviation. For over 100 years, Morton Buildings has been synonymous with quality products and exceptional service. As the industry leader in post-frame construction, we are proud to offer the Moreland Aviation hangar system as part of our building inventory.  Moreland Aviation is the authority on hangar environments, and together we have created a hangar system that serves our customers by providing a dependable, efficient, warm, dry, cost effective, and pleasant home for your aircraft.

Traditional aircraft hangars leave much to be desired when it comes to efficiently protecting your aircraft. Most airport built hangars are steel-framed buildings that are difficult to insulate, and difficult and expensive to heat. The steel acts as a thermal conductor transmitting cold from outside to inside.  Another issue with traditional hangars is condensation. Weather patterns in the United States are characterized by a succession of warm fronts following cold fronts. When a cold front passes by a leaky steel building, everything inside the building becomes cold. A warm front, characterized by moist air, follows and the moisture condenses out of the air and onto any cooler surfaces. Your aircraft, engine, building and instruments are then left vulnerable to rust and deterioration due to condensation. Even if the building is insulated, moisture will form behind the insulation and condense on the inside of the outer wall; the insulation  becomes wet, rots and mildews. The end result is a deteriorating, inefficient, steel building, and damage to your aircraft.

Moreland/Morton has a much better way to store your aircraft that allows for an efficient, low-maintenance, quality hangar. Our aircraft hangars are built using naturally insulating wood-framing and are able to withstand heavy snow loads and hurricane strength winds. In fact, Morton buildings are backed by the strongest, non-prorated warranty in the industry. When you choose Morton to construct your hangar, you can be confident you are making a solid investment, and one that our company stands behind. In addition to being built strong, each hangar features Morton’s exclusive Energy Performer® insulation system to provide superior condensation control and insulation. Wide, tightly fitting, blankets of insulation are used in the walls of your hangar while blow-in insulation is used in the ceiling to provide high thermal ratings, up to R-50 ceilings and R-30 walls. A vapor barrier creates a seal, preventing moisture from getting inside the outside walls while still allowing for adequate ventilation. HVAC, electricity and plumbing are run inside the vapor barrier without breaking the seal. All windows and doors are meticulously sealed to keep air infiltration to a minimum. Utilizing the Moreland solar/radiant heating system, we heat each hangar to safe and comfortable temperatures, and operate the entire system for about the energy cost of burning a 100 watt light bulb. The system begins with Moreland Aviation’s uniquely designed hydronic solar heating technology, eliminating the need for back up heat sources. This virtually zero-cost operating system keeps your interior warm and dry, while providing ideal conditions for you and your aircraft.

We work with airports to set up long term leases (60+years) at low rates and you “own” your hangar for the entire period of the underlying ground lease; You will not only build real estate value, but will also enjoy the benefits and satisfaction of owning your own custom hangar. As an aircraft owner, you will also have access to an upscale, well-equipped pilot’s lounge and become a member of an association of hangar owners who split all operating expenses. This allows you to have the hangar features you want while keeping costs very low. We can also build your custom hangar with Moreland/Morton features on your private airpark, ranch, farm, or anywhere you like.  All hangars are built to the highest standards, and are brightly lighted, with bright white steel walls and ceilings.  You choose the size of your unit, your door size and style, and can include many options from bathrooms, high gloss epoxy floors, office space, extra storage space, lofts, or whatever your imagination can come up with.

Morton Buildings and Moreland Aviation have teamed up to bring you a first-class hangar building that utilizes environmentally sustainable technology. This pairing will provide you years of pleasant, worry-free, cost effective storage for your aircraft.
